Sometimes a glass internal door is great to bring light into the rooms on either side. But other times, you want solid internal doors to give privacy with the room on one side or the other. However, just because a door is a solid style, doesn’t mean it can’t be stylish and fit in with a range of themes.

Veneered doors are one that have a thin layer of wood on the surface, bonded to a substrate and then placed onto a timber frame. You can get real wood veneered doors that have the look of solid wood but are less expensive and weigh less.

These styles of doors come in two types – part and fully finished. Part finished means they have been assembled and primed with a base coat but no top layer has been applied so you can add whatever finish you want; such as paint or a specific varnish. Fully finished doors are ready to go up without any further work.

Moulded doors are a more recent addition to the styles of solid internal doors. These styles are a door made from a single piece that has been moulded to give the appearance of a timber panel door but use various materials. They can come with a solid or a hollow core, depending on what kind of weight you prefer.

Finally, composite doors use a material called glass reinforced plastic or fibreglass. These doors are very thermally efficient as well as robust and long lasting. They are also the same colour throughout the door so a knock or scratch won’t bring out another internal colour and spoil the look.
